Decluttr, a resource that helps buy and sell used smartphones and other products, has published a forecast: a month after the iPhone 13 release, the residual value of used iPhone 12 will decrease by 12%, and three months later — by 20%.

In monetary terms, one month after the iPhone 13 announcement, older iPhones 12 should drop in price by $40, and the residual value of the iPhone 12 Pro Max should drop by more than $63.

After three months, the cheapenings will be $65 and more than $100, respectively.

Last year, after the release of the iPhone 12, the residual value of the iPhone 11 dropped 15% in the first month and 20% after three months. Overall, however, the residual value retention rate for Apple smartphones is still quite high.

The iPhone 11, for example, has fallen in price by an average of just 37% 12 months after release.

At the same time, the Google Pixel 2 has fallen in price by 77%, and the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G has fallen in price by 71%. Many sources report that the iPhone 13 series is likely to be announced on September 14.
