"Now Facebook has a bad reputation, users do not believe any of Mark Zuckerberg's statements, and trust in the network continues to fall," Ferran Lalueza, a professor of social media at the Open University of Catalonia.
The number of active users of the network is rapidly decreasing. This trend is especially evident among adolescents 13-14 years old.
"Facebook is already a zombie, it still walks, often pointlessly, but it's already dead. When 13- to 14-year-olds don't come to the platform, it means its time is running out. It's not days, of course, because there is inertia and financial capacity, but as a global social network FB has a few years left," Laluesa believes.
The older generations have stepped up online, so young people are leaving Facebook, in part because of strict parental controls.
"Young people see Facebook as something out of fashion," the expert added.
Thus, the social network has ceased to meet the needs of the bulk of its target audience.
