The Barnum effect (Forer effect) is the tendency of people to believe unquestioningly in information that concerns them directly and illustrates them at their best. The effect gets its name from the American showman Phineas Barnum, who was known for creating performances using numerous psychological manipulations.
It seems to me that TV and modern shows do this kind of manipulation to us now, it all just dulls us down and makes us stop thinking!
